After spending a few years with the car and on the board I'm curious how common the known issues with this model have been for other owners. This red, 3 door, manual is the flagship Mk5 GTI. It is an amazing all rounder, it's quick, economical, comfortable and all around fun. Of all the cars I've had, this has been my favourite. I'm only selling it because I need something bigger for a road trip in planning. I have owned it for about 3 years.
After registering for the first time, there is a problem with my 09 GTI TSi, so I post it. 2009 MK5 GTI TSi 127,XXXmiles & 6MT 5 doors. Around April 2020, due to air intake problem: + April, 2020: Replaced: Intake Manifold (3 times) + Cleaned the carbon build up + Fuel Injection System + Throttle Body + Spark Plugs including ignition coils. I

wiring harness problems do seem to be fairly common on the Mk5's as they age and I wonder if that will carry on into the Mk6's which are basically a re-style engineered to be cheaper to build but with many common parts The prime culprits do seem to be the flex connectors where the wiring bends between the body , and the passenger doors and hatch.
Re: MK5 2.0 GT TDi injectors. I had this very same problem with my 2006 1.9tdi golf. Took the car in for a service when I first bought it, mechanic said the glow plug in 4th cylinder kept spinning, so they had to drill it out and rethread the glow plug port. That's when the problem started.
